Wine Tasting & Fundraiser for Laniakea YWCA 9-23-10

Last week I attended a fundraiser for the Laniakea YWCA.  The event was a wine tasting with a sampling of food from the Laniakea Dining Room.  It was a fun and successful event for everyone there.

(This video was shot and edited entirely with an iPhone4 – props to Apple)

Honestly I am not a wine drinker so I wouldn't do justice describing any of the wines there.  However, I can tell you that Lanai's Look Me in the Eye was one of the featured wines.

In fact Lanai was there himself pouring his wine. (www.lanaismind.com)

There was some great food there as well:

There were even mini lemon cheese cakes.

More importantly this was a fundraiser for a good cause the YWCA.  The Laniakea YWCA does some great things like Dress for Success Honolulu. Dress for Success® Honolulu (DFSH) provides career attire to low-income women to help them present a professional appearance at job interviews.  Clients are 'suited' by volunteer 'Personal Shoppers,' at the YWCA's Dress for Success® Honolulu in the Laniākea YWCA.

You can learn more about the YWCA, the Laniakea YWCA, and all their programs at YWCA of Oahu.

You can also find information about the Laniakea Dining Room which is now open to the public for lunch at that same website.

Finally, I just wanted to give some kudos to Chris Gee, the Laniakea Dining Room Supervisor and helped with this wine and food event.  Chris is a local boy who graduated from Punahou.

Chris is hosting a new show on iaTV (Oceanic channel 134) this fall called My America.  Look for the show and support another homegrown talent.

    Now that's cool like dat!

thanks for the kudos - the photos of the food bring back some good memories! fyi chris is our dining room supervisor - we enjoy having him around, hopefully that doesn't mean we flies in every morning from LA! marlene zeug, associate director of programs, laniakea YWCA

I am a Buddhist who likes sports especially the Cowboys, Dodgers, Phillies, and Longhorns. I like good food and good sake. Of course I am always looking for that occasional inspiration, I am a Buddhist remember! Why am I doing this? I guess its just a social experiment. An attempt to share and communicate with others in a positive way. So if "Its cool like dat, its Col like dat!"
