So why blog? Well I am just speaking for myself here. First let me say that for me a blog is kind of like a PowerPoint of your life. The images and videos are your slides, and your posts are the notes you use when giving the presentation. Pretty simple but let me go a little deeper.
About 17 years ago I had a liver transplant. Not because I was an alcoholic or anything like that (seriously), but because there was just something genetically wrong with my liver. I was very fortunate that I waited only a few days for my liver considering I had a rare blood type. Everything was fine after the transplant surgery but a couple days after that I had what could only be explained as a massive rejection. My parents were told that I might not make it through the night, but as you can see I did and I kept on going.
I finished school and started working but unfortunately the anti rejection medication I was taking for my liver was fairly new and no one knew that it would cause kidney damage in the long term. So 10 years ago I had to start dialysis which lasted until 5 years ago when I had a kidney transplant. Pretty intense huh?
Well I think there are other people in world that have had worst experiences than I have. I feel very blessed and fortunate to be here. I am very grateful to my faith, my family, my temple, and of course my friends.
In addition, I do like to find that occasional inspiration and see how we can all learn to better ourselves - I am a Buddhist. Yes, I still like sake and good food; despite what people may say I have it in moderation. More importantly my health is good now (knock on wood).
So all of this got me to thinking though, when you go through things like this you feel a need for purpose, and a need for fun. You want to create positive change and you want to enjoy the moment.
So for me this blog is about finding that middle path between creating positive change and enjoying the moment. Hopefully I can share some thoughtfulness, as well as some good times (good times = good sake, good food, good friends). A PowerPoint if you will, about my journey to see how successful or unsuccessful I will be in finding that middle path.
Are you up for the journey?
